Beautiful image. I agree with the others above about the colors, light, movement and composition. Bravo!

Jan, Tim and April,
Thank you so much for being here and for your comments. The main things I learned from Peter's tutorial (that were new to me) were:
1. How to use a gradient filter (to increase foreground exposure without affecting the sky) - Lightroom.
2. To use the clarity slider to improve the contrast in the clouds- Lightroom
3. I had not even used the crop tool with the fine lines...and I used that to straighten the horizon...to tell you the truth, even though though the horizon looks tilted, I don;t think it is.

Tim, I will try a different crop and report back. Jan, I will try some crops and some darkening variation to see if it will improve the balance. Probably will try this tomorrow.

Going for a photowalk today....in the cold Brrrrr!

Thanks again you guys. It is great to have friends like you.

What wonderful light, color, and feeling of movement. The way the clouds echo our foreground access into the scene is amazing. Heavy/dark into light, "uplifting" (joy) definitely comes to mind.

Along with Jan, I'm curious about what you learned that inspired you to apply to this image.

It's a pleasure to see another post, and I'm looking forward to many more!

I really love the warm light on the wave and foreground rocks.
I think if it's a bit unbalanced it's more due to the horizon in the middle, rather than the composition left to right. You might look a a crop down from the top (admittedly losing some of those great clouds). If there's still and issue left to right (but I think not) you could darken the right rocks a bit.

Beautiful photo, particularly the color qualities really make you feel the moment.

It does feel a little unbalanced - there's the negative space in the water on the left, and then this very heavy rock, wanting the image to drop down on the left side and rotate. Might try a few different crops.

But more importantly, can you share some of the things you did relative to the techniques you learned? It sounds like the more immediate connection is what you were able to do to this image to finish it.
